I am saddened by the announcement that there will no longer be a word of the day. This word has been my inspiration for each post, and motivation for me to practice writing every day. It leads me to write things I would never write otherwise and in ways I would never otherwise write. I need to continue to find inspiration and so I will be finding my own word of the day. I will post the word on my blog but will schedule it ahead of time so that I don’t cheat and use a word that fits what I want to say.
I will begin 6/1. I hope you will join me! Pingbacks are allowed on my site so you can link back to the post if you wish.
Almost seven and a half years ago The Daily Post opened its virtual doors to the WordPress.com blogging community. Itβs been an incredible ride, and incredible rides, too, sometimes come to an end. As of the end of this month (and 2,000 Daily Prompts, 380 Photo Challenges, 260 Community Pools, and 100 First Fridays later), we will no longer publish new posts, prompts, or challenges on this site.

I had the same idea. You have more followers than I have though, so you would have a better outreach. We could take it in turns?

Let’s see what we can work out. I can’t not have a word so I had to do something. π

Hi Dee,
I have posted a word prompt today. How about if I do a word prompt twice a week and you do it the other days and we each link to each others? That way we reach out to all our followers and have a day off now and then?
What do you think?
LikeLiked by 2 people
Ok we can try that. My plan had just been to schedule them ahead of time for consistency. What days were you thinking? I wasn’t actually planning on starting until 6/1 because that is when the other prompt stops…

Ah, I have been a bit premature π yes of course they aren’t ceasing until the end of the month! I just wanted to test the waters today. π

π no worries.

What if you took weekends and I did weekdays? Then there would still feel like there was consistency and we can link to each other every day?

Could I do Wednesday’s and Saturdays? Starting the 2nd. The other thing is scheduling the time. Shall we make it Midday GMT?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Ok let’s give that a try. I was thinking about 7 am eastern which puts it about midday GMT….so that would work.

I had thought about doing a word deal once, but I do not like stepping on other’s toes, so I backed off. You will do it great, you know it well and will move in smoothly. It will be alright, You and we all can make it better if we work at it. Go for it. Sad to see it go like this.

I’m confused. You wrote and published a book. And you can’t not have a word? Your a writer Dee! You are full of words! We all are… βΊπ

The word gets me away from writing what I think I SHOULD write and instead helps me write what should be written. πβ€οΈ

What should be written comes from your heart βΊπ

To get to my heart I need a way to get out of my head. I haven’t had enough practice yet to get there on my own. π

π thanks. The plan was to do it for me. If other people join me that’s great but I needed a word to challenge me. I’m going to be partnering with Kristian which should make it interesting. π

Aha.. if finally worked. Is there any way you could do a Mr Linky link so people’s posts could be sorted out from the list of general comments? It would make it much easier for us to read each other’s work.
Thanks for doing this. Hope they will be one-word prompts, which have my vote for the ones most likely to stimulate original and varied posts.

I’m not familiar with a “Mr Linky link”…I’m still pretty new to this all! I’ll see what I can find out. That’s a great suggestion. π I agree the one word prompt is best so that’s what we’ll be sticking with. I’m glad you’re going to participate!

Dee, here is a link to the dVerse Poets site. They have a Mr. Linky link. Click on it and I believe it gives you an option to establish one yourself, or I’m sure the folks at the dVerse would tell you how to do so. If not, I’ll try to help you figure it out. It’s just important that you tell people about it tomorrow as it’s the last day for the WordPress daily prompt and you want to collect as many folks as you can. For now, just give them your blog site and tell them to check daily as you’ll be explaining how to link up. https://dversepoets.com/
